What happened on 20 May

ECDC issued its 20 May surveillance update revising the cluster total downward from 12 to 11 cases, comprising 9 confirmed and 2 probable. The previously listed inconclusive entry was removed from the tally, reflecting a methodological standardization with WHO DON601's case definitions. No new cases or deaths since the previous update. ECDC reiterated that additional case identification remains expected throughout the up-to-six-week Andes virus incubation window.

Additional vessel quarantine details emerged: of the 25 crew members originally aboard at Rotterdam arrival, 5 including the captain will remain on board during disinfection. The remaining 20 non-Dutch crew comprising 17 Philippine nationals and 3 Ukrainian nationals entered six-week quarantine in separate cabins at the dedicated port facility. The 2 Dutch medical workers returned home for self-quarantine. The body of the deceased German woman was removed for cremation in the Netherlands. Oceanwide announced the vessel is targeting return to service on 13 June.
